  1. 1200 calories is way too low, that's how much a very small woman would eat on a diet, she would still lose weight very rapidly even on 2500. I have a maintenance caloric intake of around 3000 and did an eating challenge that involved eating only 800 calories for a weak, and that was quite tough. On 1200 calories she will be in an even larger deficit, and adding on enormous mental health problems and food addiction, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that she couldn't stick to that.
